Floral Nails & Clothing Review |

Hey everyone! As you may know, in recent months I've started reviewing other products - not just nail supplies. It's been interesting!

Banggood contacted me, and I chose three items of clothing. I was pretty impressed at the website layout and shipping invoice; it was all very professional and only took about 2 1/2 weeks to arrive (good, considering it had to get to New Zealand). When it comes to the clothing received, it was a mixture of good and bad, which I'll go into soon.

And of course, to keep it relevant, I did some nail art to match this skirt!

Let me know if you want a tutorial for them!

More photos of the nails at the end of this post!

Right, so the clothes. Banggood (what a name!) definitely falls into the category of what is commonly known as "cheap Asian online shops." I've reviewed clothing from a similar shop before, here, and have more items ready to review from another. I'm not sure how long I'll continue reviewing from these types of places, as it is a bit "hit and miss..." However, I figure that if I put reviews up, helps others people know what is worth buying. You can good some good deals at places like Banggood! But it can be pretty hard to know what to get, unless you read an unbiased review *puts hand up.*

I'll go for the best first. I LOVE this skirt. Absolutely adore it. It's actually got loose "skorts" underneath in a sheer fabric (which is why you're not going to see a photo, haha) which is quite handy for those windy days.

New Zealand Road Trip | My Beautiful Country

Chris and I went on a Road Trip! We figured it was a good chance to film a bit of the New Zealand landscape, so here you go - and please subscribe to my YouTube channel!

As you can see, there were a couple of dumb bits about our journey. We were pretty poor at the time of going, too, and weren't sure if it was really worth it... but we got to Hamilton, shook off our bad moods about the ticket and loss of $$$ and ended up having a really good time. The guy Chris met was absolutely awesome, he taught the degree he's starting next year and gave him SO many tips for both study and getting into the industry! Invaluable information. Then a week or so after getting home, Chris got a second job, so the money situation worked itself out. Phew!

Hope you like seeing a bit of my country, and sorry about the bumpy footage!

The Sims Nail Art + Tutorial

I'm quite excited about having this tutorial, blog post and everything else about this design over and done with. It brings back painful memories! People keep asking why I hated this so much, so I'll explain it properly in this post. Before I continue though, here's the tutorial! And please subscribe!

Okay, so first off it wasn't this specific design that I hated. I actually really like how this turned out, but this was my second attempt at Sims nail art on this particular day. The first design was going to be super complicated, with a plumbob, a more detailed logo and a intricate scene on each hand. Here's a picture I was using for inspiration for one of the scenes.

It started off okay. It was a bit cold in my nail room, so I put the heater on to warm it up for a few minutes. I then switched on my ring light and started filming.

Divergent Nail Art + Tutorial

I'm a huge Hunger Games fan, so when I heard about Divergent I was pretty keen to read it and see the movie - there are many similarities between the two series! Dystopian reality, post apocalyptic world... my favourite. I really enjoyed the first book and will be reading the second and third soon (just finishing off The Help by Kathryn Stockett first). The movie was good, too! I wish they had spent more time on the training and on Al and Tris' relationship, but other than that it was fine. And as a bonus, the guy who plays Four is absolutely gorgeous ;).

I decided to do some Divergent nails; here's the tutorial, and please subscribe to my channel!

I think everyone who watches/reads this series will be curious about which faction they'd be in. I definitely wouldn't be in Dauntless (my self-preservation instincts are WAY to high for that), but the other four are all options. Maybe Amity, although I don't know much about that one yet. I think the next books explore it a little more. Where's the nail art faction at?

Disney Nail Art #6 - Enchanted | Collaboration With Lani Loves

More Disney-themed nail art - and this is one of my better ones! Lani from Lani Loves and I are collaborating for today's blog post; I'm doing Enchanted nail art, and she's doing Enchanted make up, which you can see here and at the bottom of this post.

Here are mine! The left hand was inspired by this picture and the right hand, this one.

I'm pretty proud of how they turned out, especially the right hand. I had to paint it with my non-dominant hand which is always a bit trickier, but somehow it all pulled together nicely ☺.

And as you can see, the thumbs line up to make the word "Enchanted" - I normally squeeze the title on to one nail but this one was a little too long! I started challenging myself with intricate Disney designs a year or so ago, and this is number six. You can see my previous Disney themed nail art below.

Zig-Zags, Glitter and One HUGE Rhinestone | BPS Review

First off, I'm not sure if "rhinestone" is the correct term for this monster. I imagine there is a better term out there - please let me know in comments if you know it! Since starting my nail tech training I've realised that I have SO much to learn about nails, and the things we put on them.

Born Pretty Store sent me this "rhinestone" (I'll call it that for now) to review a while ago, and this is the design I came up with to go with it.

New watermark - what do you think?

In case you don't know, Born Pretty Store is an online store that has just about anything you need to go about your daily life - seriously. I normally just review nail art supplies from there, and I have found them for the most part, fantastic. And cheap! So cheap. Free shipping is good that way ☺.

So, on to the stone. It chose it just to try something a little different - I haven't reviewed any of these full-nail gems before. I knew I wouldn't be able to use it in the way you would in salons (you'll need something a bit stronger than clear polish to stick this baby on) but I figured it'd be a good way to have a look, see what I think of it and show you guys.

Ginger Tabby Cat Nail Art Tutorial

More cat lady nails! These will be the last ones for a while though; they are quite highly requested but it seems that only a small group of people actually watch these videos - the view counts are lower than usual for this one and the last one. That's the problem with doing requested designs - sometimes they only cater to a small group! I still enjoyed creating them though.

Please subscribe ☺

The polishes I used for this design were:
Jordana - Sweet Orange, White, 5th Ave, Rich Green
Jordana Pop Art - Contemporary White
Revlon - Hot for Chocolate, Temptress
Sally Hansen - Without a Stitch, Himalayan Blue (I've added white to this polish though)

These nails remind me of my parent's cats - they have two twin gingers and they are just a tad adorable - see?

Nail Art Mash Up | 6 Different Designs

 I'm having a clear out.

I've done a lot of nail art on friends in the past, but the pictures rarely make it on to my blog. They sit in folders in my computer, all sad and lonely and I'm normally a bit embarrassed to bring them out. You see, when I used to do nail art on friends, it was just that; slap some paint on, here's a design and you're done. Now I'm much more methodical and actually prepare the nail first, which means the nails look nicer and the polish will stay on longer. These photos were all taken before I got my act together... However, if you squint a little and try to ignore the messy cuticles and polish on the skin, some of these designs are pretty cool. I particularly like the tribal-on-gradient ones, and the (rather blurry) M&M one. Yum.

Tribal gradient - I'll have to do a tutorial for these! The glitter adds a lot to them, I think.

A random swirly design I did on another person - I love that teal! It's Maybelline Color Show - Sea-Quins

Snowman Nail Art - It's Getting Chilly!

Today I put flannelette sheets on the bed, for the first time in a long time. It was one of those moments where you finally accept that yes, winter is coming (G.O.T reference, win!) and there's not point trying to kid yourself that it's still warm. Of course, on the other side of the world it's just about to turn Summer - jealous! I was always such a winter bunny, but I absolutely hated the last two winters and now I quite like the warmth.

I actually did these nails a really, really long time ago - just before Christmas, but I didn't put them up in time and suddenly it was after New Years. Now seemed an appropriate time to share them with the world!

The little snowman is my fav! So cute.

I kind of love them. Christmas-time Jessie did alright!

Boyfriend Nail Test | Inspired by Shaaanxo

I recently watched NZ Youtuber Shaaanxo's Boyfriend Beauty Test, and thought it was a pretty cool idea. So, I made my own version for us nail girls! I tested Chris on all things nail related.

The questions:
1. Name as many brands of nail polish as you can in 30 seconds.
2. What are two reasons you would use a base coat?
3. What is my #1 nail care product?
4. What is my favourite nail polish colour?
5. What are these two tools used for? (Show two random nail-related tools).
6. What does matte polish do?
7. Name as many nail bloggers as you can in 30 seconds.
8. What is the most I have ever spent on nail polish?
9. What is a common term in the nail community for these? (I showed glequins, but if you can find something similar go ahead!)
10. What are these nail polish brands? (Can only feel, no looking).

I was pretty impressed with how well he did ☺. If anyone else tries this, let me know! Message me on Facebook or something, I'd love to compare the scores!
